With more and more people making the switch to electric vehicles, the need for charging stations has grown significantly - and the Scottish government has heeded the call. Scotland Excel recently awarded a contract to supply EVSEs to a variety of companies for the next five years, and we were delighted to be one of the three top suppliers! In this blog post, we'll discuss the project and how GARO becomes one of the EV Charging suppliers for the next five years. Continued growth of the EV industry in Scotland is an important step for the future and our EVSE solutions can help bring Scotland one step closer to becoming a low-carbon economy.

In Scotland, Swarco traditionally supplied and installed EV charge points. However, to step up the roll-out of charging stations, a solution was needed that had the capacity to work in coastal areas, was capable of billing and DLM implementation on sites with limited power supply. Minimising maintenance was a top priority, and the LS4's modular construction simplified things. Therefore, the modular construction of the LS4 was ideal, as spare parts could be sourced quickly and easily within the UK, making downtime negligible. Previous solutions had caused several issues, due to having to retrieve spares from either Europe or China.

Twenty nine LS4 Public charging stations were installed in the project. The GARO LS4 won the job due to the exceptional performance spec and fast lead time. Allowing GARO to train the council install team to carry out maintenance and ensure the life cycle of the chargers was maximised. Additionally, a pre-commission service was provided for the charge points, which was tailored to the site's OCPP back-office parameters and DLM configuration requirements. This enabled the install team to work more efficiently as it decreased commissioning time on site. This collaboration between Rexel Scotland and our team proved to be a great success.
